What does your Bible say Gods name is in the Old Testament?
I am studying and confused why some Bibles only say Lord or Lord God etc. And others say the name is YHWH or Jehovah.
Serious answers only please and thank you. I went to the library found a Jeruselem Bible and it said Jehovah others only say it in a few scripture verses of the old. Why?
It actually said Yaweah, translated to English is Jehovah in some I have read with a few scriptures. I believe from King James versions...

Great question. I am a student of Biblical languages such as Hebrew and Greek. The original name of God, as the creator, is Elohim. So Genesis 1:1 states "In origin Elohim shaped the Earth and the Skies". Beginning with Genesis 2:4 we start to see YHVH (or some write YHWH) Elohim. In your English versions this translates to LORD God. in simple terms God comes Elohim and LORD comes from YHVH. God's true name is actually YHVH Elohim.
