Easy Gymnastics Kids
Do you think Cheerleading is a sport?
I am a cheerleader at my school, and a bunch of kids say that it isn't and it is so easy, well ITS NOT. we have about 3 hours of practice a day AND gymnastics (for competitive season). Now im not saying that sideline cheer is, but COMPETITIVE CHEER is. Go ahead and youtube competitive cheer. Its hard!! But tell me what you think.
I used to think the same, that Cheerleading wasn't a sport. I changed my mind when I learned first-hand the amount of athletics required today to be a good Cheerleader.
Cheerleading has become a sport..most definately. It's very athletic and requires a lot of strength, agility, and balance. It's also very competitive, squads often compete against others in large events. It has become more than it once was, maybe a combination of gymnastics and aerobatics.
What Cheerleading lacks is the recognition that it is a sport. To be good, Cheerleaders put in long hours and must be in good condition. This is necessary to hot only execute the moves, but also for safety.. as moves done improperly or without enough strength and prep.. can lead to injury. This is the same as many other sports.
