When an office job calls for experience in word or excel?

Is there anything online, any sites I can learn more about working with those programs to get me ready for the job?
they are willing to train they said I just wanted to go in prepared a little bit

You could try picking up a copy of a book like "Word for Dummies" (seriously, that's the book's name) and read through it.

I'd be interested in what they want you to know because using Word or any word processor is pretty basic unless except any special features that the job may use (bullets, tabs, custom layouts like brochures, etc.).

Same applies for excel. I've never taking formal training on Word or Excel, but I've got over 20 years experience using them in day-to-day use. I'm not an expert, but I've learned some tricks over the years. :-)
