How to setup an online store?
I'm getting ready to launch an online store, but I need to figure out how to setup my wholesalers/drop shippers. I was wondering if anyone has any experience or insight in this area.
One problem I'm having is if I have a number of dropshippers and I'm not keeping or storing any actual inventory, how do I setup shipping so that I dont have to pay shipping costs from say 5 different drop shippers? I wan t to give the illusion of single source shipping with my shipping labels, invoices, etc. Anyone have a solution to this problem?
There are two ways you can do this.
1) Choose dropshippers/wholesalers that use the same shipping company. For example, if they all have UPS in common, then use those dropshippers/wholesalers. The shipping rates are relatively the same for these shipping companies, depending on the weight of the items that they sell.
2) This is a little more involved process, but find out the cost to ship each item you are going to sell from your dropshippers/wholesalers. Then, group each product into a price range, say 1$ - $3 dollars. Then charge the most expensive shipping price for this particular group, say $0.50 cents. Then state on your site that if the product your customer wants to purchase falls into this price range, that's how much they pay for shipping. If they buy a product at the low end of the purchase group, you make an additional profit which you could use however you see fit to promote your site. And if they buy closer towards the high end of the purchase gorup, your shipping is pretty much covered.
