Reading Phonics Teacher
my 6 years old daughter?
hi my daughter turned 6 this april and she will start grade 1 in september.Her senior kindergarten teacher was satisfied with her performance but i am not sure if it's ok.When she writes without lines she goes really tilted but she writes well but sometimes without leaving spaces between words.she knows all letters and phonics and write all letters right.for reading she can read level 2 books but slowly.Is she ok for her level?
Each school is different on what level books a child should be reading. I know my son is supposed to be at a level 12, going into 2nd grade, so that question is hard to answer. Did her teacher mention anything about it in parent teacher confrences? If no, then she is probably ok. Continue though, to read with her. It is so very important to read with your children. And it gives you some one on one time with her.
I know here in CA, they don't have to know too much before entering 1st grade. If she is already writing sentences, then I think she is doing great. I write tilted when I don't have any lines to follow! That is not def. not a problem. I think you should quit worrying, and have a good summer with her.
