Is Rosetta Stone really effective ?

I want to learn how to speak Gaelic, or as their site calls it, "Irish", but I do not want to spend a lot of money if it isn't any good. Would you recommend it?

Rosette Stone doesn't have so much grammatical explanation or a comprehensive vocabulary but it really teaches you a language the way you learn it as a kid. I used Rosette Stone for German and I feel it was very helpful with pronunciation and picture/word association. It has an interactive interface where you are presented with a set of pictures and you hear a native speaker say a word, a phrase, or a sentence, then you have to match the speaking to the picture. It's good for both visual and audio learning. But one thing I don't like about Rosetta Stone is that it is too expensive for the little content it contains. I would prefer if it has more vocabulary terms and grammatical explanation but you can't hope for everything in one package. Although Rosetta Stone shows you correct grammar usage, it is difficult sometimes to grasp the concept so I would recommend that if you want to learn how to speak Gaelic correctly, get a grammar book. Also, I found a site that's very good for vocabulary building.
