Talking Typing Kids
what would you say is a good age to start trying to have kids?
im 22 married for almost 2 years to my 25 yr old husband. Love kids and always talk about starting our family! When would you say (someone who was had children) is a good age to start. i know everyone is different. we are mature for our age. I am also a type 1 diabetic. If that makes a difference to anyone. How do you know when your ready?
We knew we were ready once we had all plans in place.
We made sure that we could afford for me to be home with the kids.
We made sure we were married before having our first.
We made sure that we selected the right place to raise the kids.
We made sure we were able to buy a home in a reasonable time.
We made sure we had the same life goals, views, and ideas on child rearing.
We made sure that we knew exactly how many kids we wanted.
We made sure that we knew when we wanted them, and had our "cut off" ages.
We made sure that we had removed any negative people from our lives.(which got complicated, and kept coming back into the picture for a couple years)
We made sure that we had the same values in doing things as a family, as opposed to being consumed with "me time".
We made sure that we had a clear agreement pertaining to household responsibility, and responsibilities with the kids.
We made sure we had an early retirement plan in mind.(didn't have it worked out to prefection until after kids, but we had a clear guidline prior)
We made sure to have a clear college fund plan in place.
We made sure to discuss the "what if" factors involved in raising kids as they get older.
We made sure to have a set discipline plan in place. (made our "house rules" well prior to having the kids.)
Those kinds of things have made our life, and transition into parenthood very easy. I like to plan things out...to a fault sometimes. If we had not done all of what we did, before having kids.....I'm positive our life would be hectic caos!
We are very glad that we got all of it out of the way before having kids, and can now just live a relaxed life. We both know where one another stands on everything, and are able to work together productively in raising the kids.
So thats how we knew we were ready.
