Hi. My son bought an Adobe Creative Suite 3 Production Premium. What can I do to make flyers?
We have 2 CD cases and numbered 1/2 and 2/2. I believe it is 1 of 2 and 2 of 2. In the 1 of 2 it has 4 dvds. The first one is labelled Application1, 2nd Application, 3rd Application 3, 4th Application 4. Each has a title on the top of them that says Adobe Creative Suite 3 Production Premium. It comes with a lot of books: Adobe Creative Suite 3 Production Premium Workflow Guide, Adobe Onlocation CS3 User Guide -OL ,Adobe Ultra CS3 User Guide - QL, Adobe Illustrator CS3 User Guide - Ai, Adobe Photoshop CS3 User Guide - Ps, Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 User Guide - Pr, Adobe After Effects CS3 Professional User Guide - AE, Adobe Flash CS3 Professional User Guide - Fl, Adobe Encore CS3 User Guide - En (all in one box). And a separate book : Adobe Illustrator CS3 - CLASSROOM IN A BOOK/ The official training workbook from Adobe Systems with a dvd titled the same as the book1. Now I don't have time to read all of these books right away but I need to make flyers now. Where do I start?
I can't really answer this with an 100% guarantee, but it really all depends on what you're looking to make. If, for example, you're wanting to create flyers within a video, there are numerous possibilities... I won't get into this though, it takes a bit of knowhow and quite some time to cover.
Alternately, if you're just looking to create a flier that you could put up on walls, etc... I'd recommend you begin with Photoshop CS3. If you want to make a flier with say a picture of your son or a pet or anything of the like, just open up Photoshop, find your file and open it up via Photoshop. You'll see that the file will be placed into a layer, the layer below it a background layer (normally, you wouldn't be toying with this).
Adding text is rather simple if it is for a common flyer, just select the "T"--looking tool and click somewhere on your picture. You'll be able to select where you want the text since it is transparent (overlaps your picture) and you'll also notice it stays in a seperate layer so you could make your text diverse and unique by adding in glows, bevels, and many other fun options.
If its just a simple flyer, I guess this should be helpful--at least I hope it is. Out of everything you have, for this project, Illustrator, Fireworks, and Photoshop will definitely be the only tools you'll require, but even then Photoshop is the only thing you'll need to be messing around with....
Toy around with the settings, get accustomed to its interface, and learn the difference in the masking styles (you could, for example, have a picture remain confined to the text, meaning the rest would be your background, by right clicking your text layer and using the multiply option. *Only works if your picture is below the layer being multiplied (in this example, the text).
