Best Computer for Web Design? ?
I am new to the Web design and development major and was wondering if any professionals had a certain type of computer that made it easier or just personal/professional preference. Such as MAC vs PC? Any special type of graphics card? thanks to all who comment
how about software differences? for MAC vs PC
I guess it depends on several things: What development tools do you plan to be working with; Microsoft Visual Studio, Adobe Flash, Notepad... what language(s) are you writing in? What kind of database? mySQL, MS-SQL, oracle...
Now the reason all these things matter is because these individual applications are the things that will use the resources on whichever computer you purchase.
So, to make the point if you're a hardened code-oriented person, you might choose to go for a text editor as your main dev. environment. In that case the best computer is... well, anything will do. =)
But if you see yourself getting into flash and heavy-media, or working with complex databases... well, you might want to consider getting a box that can run the software you will need.
To give you some perspective, I run Windows Vista on a 2.0GHz processor with 4GB ram, and I mainly use VS2005, MSSQL, and adobe CS without any complaints. =)
