Word Job Training
Job Application Questions: 1) Describe specialized training, or skills and 2) State any additional information
...Asking for additional information that you feel may be helpful to them in considering your application. Anyone have any good wording on these type of questions (for a county job).
1) Answers for this question might involve prior specialized training you got on previous jobs, where, for example, you might have had to take vendor training on a computer system application, or where you might have pursued certification from a professional industry organization like PMI http://www.pmi.org/Pages/default.aspx or Six Sigma http://www.isixsigma.com/sixsigma/six_sigma.asp . It might also include trade school, vocational education, or community college level courses that prepared you for specific positions, such as welding classes, or pesticide application.
The reason you are provided a means of listing such additional training and skills is to put such information in consideration by the hiring manager, and to give you a chance to demonstrate that you may have been interested in post-secondary alternative adult education, even if you did not pursue a college program or degree.
2) Any additional information might be a place where you discuss any achievements not related to educational certifications, that might be relevant to consideration in the job selection or interview process. If you wrote a book on traffic management, and were applying for a job in the county highway department, but had no civil engineering degree, this might be a place to mention your book. If you had built a business with $2 million in annual revenue, before selling it, and now were applying for a position as a county purchasing manager, this might be the place to discuss your previous entrepenurial successes.
